Framing Services

Every building, no matter how big or small it is, starts with a frame. The frame is its skeleton, and from there the structure starts to come together until it becomes an inhabitable space. Because the frame is so essential to the building's success, choosing the right company to create it is not something to be taken lightly.

Jaime's Construction LLC has extensive experience constructing high quality frames that help bring buildings. If you are in the process of putting a building together, we can help.

What Does Construction Framing Involve?

Construction framing establishes the basic shape and support system for your entire structure, serving as the foundation for all subsequent construction work. It determines the strength, stability, and layout of your building, allowing it to withstand various loads.

Here’s what this process involves:

  • Material selection: Based on your project's requirements, choose appropriate materials such as lumber, steel, or engineered wood products.
  • Layout and planning: Accurately marking the positions of walls, openings, and other structural elements according to architectural plans.
  • Cutting and assembly: Precisely cutting framing members to size and assembling them to form walls, floors, and roof structures.
  • Structural support: Installing load-bearing elements like beams, posts, and trusses to distribute weight effectively throughout your structure.
  • Sheathing application: Applying exterior sheathing to provide additional structural support and prepare your building for weatherproofing.

Framing Professionals

Because of the role a frame plays in the successful construction of a building, it should always be left to a professional company. It can be hard to tell which company is best suited to your needs though, because there are many companies out there.

Beyond experience, you need a company that has the support of the community—one that has a solid track record of providing a diverse clientele with framing work that stands the test of time, and is representative of the design. Jaime's Construction LLC matches that description perfectly—and on top of that our prices are among the most affordable!

Solid Buildings Start with Solid Framing Technicians

The frame of a building is just that—the structure that everything else is built onto. While there are other materials added on after the fact, the frame itself still has to be strong and durable, not to mention an accurate interpretation of the design itself.

Our aim is always to translate our client's designs into high caliber frames that the construction company can use to dictate their work. A building is only as solid as its frame, which is why we are so committed to strong workmanship.

What Are the Key Components of Wood Framing?

Wood framing involves assembling various wooden components to form walls, floors, and roofs. It provides the basic shape and support for your entire structure and is widely used in residential and light commercial construction.

Here are a few examples of key components:

  • Sill plates: Horizontal members anchored to the foundation, serving as the base for wall framing.
  • Floor joists: Horizontal framing members that support the floor structure between walls or beams.
  • Wall studs: Vertical framing members that form the wall structure and support the roof.
  • Top plates: Horizontal members that cap the wall studs, distributing loads from the roof or upper floors.
  • Headers: Beams installed above doors and windows to transfer loads around openings.

What Are the Different Types of Framing?

The most common types of framing include platform framing, balloon framing, and post-and-beam framing. Platform framing involves building each floor level as a separate unit or "platform." It’s a ubiquitous method found in anything from single-family homes to multi-story apartment buildings.

Balloon framing features wall studs that run continuously from the sill plate (the bottom horizontal member) to the top plate (the horizontal member at the top of a wall frame). It’s typically more common in renovations, and it can be found in some older homes.

Post-and-beam framing involves using large wooden posts and beams to create the skeleton. It’s a standard method for barns, churches, and high-end custom homes where exposed wooden beams are preferred for aesthetic reasons. It’s durable and also allows for open floor plans.

How Does Wall Framing Support Load Distribution?

Load distribution refers to the way your building's weight and external forces are transferred through the structure to the foundation. In wall framing, the vertical studs in a wall frame bear the weight of the roof and upper floors, transferring this load to the bottom plate and, ultimately, to the foundation.

The top plate of the wall frame spreads the weight from roof trusses or floor joists across multiple studs. Headers above doors and windows redistribute the vertical loads around these openings to adjacent studs, and sheathing applied to the exterior of the wall frame helps distribute lateral loads.
